Roagna is one of Piedmont's most revered family estates, with a history dating back to the late 19th century in the village of Barbaresco. Today, Alfredo and Luca Roagna continue the family's uncompromising philosophy of organic farming, spontaneous fermentation and exceptionally long macerations. Best known for their world-class Barbaresco and Barolo, Roagna applies the same meticulous attention to every wine in its portfolio, including Dolcetto. The estate's Dolcetto d'Alba is sourced from mature vineyards and vinified with unusually long skin contact and extended ageing in large neutral oak casks, resulting in a wine of remarkable depth, structure and ageing potential that challenges conventional expectations of the variety. Made from 100% Dolcetto, this is a structured, age-worthy interpretation of Dolcetto d'Alba. Unlike most examples that are fermented briefly for immediate drinking, Roagna ferments the wine with indigenous yeasts and macerates it on the skins for around 60 days, followed by approximately one year in large neutral oak casks. The result is a medium-bodied red with exceptional concentration, floral complexity, firm structure and the capacity to develop over several years.
