Familia Zuccardi is one of Argentina’s most critically respected and internationally celebrated wine estates, farming vineyards in the Valle de Uco of Mendoza’s Uco Valley at elevations between 1,000 and 1,500 metres on volcanic and limestone-influenced soils whose combination of altitude, diurnal temperature variation and mineral richness produces Malbec of a character substantially different from the warmer, richer style of the classic Luján de Cuyo zone. The Finca Piedra Infinita is one of the estate’s single-vineyard high-altitude expressions, produced from a specific parcel whose combination of altitude, volcanic mineral soils and the precise canopy management that Jorge and Sebastián Zuccardi have developed over decades of estate farming produces Malbec of extraordinary mineral depth, natural freshness and ageing potential. The wine has attracted consistent and high critical recognition from Wine Advocate, Vinous and Decanter, confirming Familia Zuccardi’s position at the absolute pinnacle of Argentine fine wine production. The 2014 vintage in the Uco Valley was a year of good balance between the concentration and freshness that the high-altitude zone of Mendoza provides in its finest growing conditions. At eleven years from harvest, the Finca Piedra Infinita 2014 will have developed the secondary complexity and mineral integration that serious Mendoza Malbec consistently achieves in the decade following harvest from the finest vineyards: the primary dark fruit character giving way to the complex tertiary notes of dried violet, chocolate, graphite mineral and the distinctive volcanic iron character of the Valle de Uco limestone and volcanic soils. Familia Zuccardi’s Finca Piedra Infinita is widely regarded as one of the most compelling and individual expressions of Argentine Malbec produced at the highest quality level, demonstrating what the country’s finest high-altitude terroir can achieve when farmed with the precision and ambition that Zuccardi brings to every aspect of their estate viticulture and winemaking. Deep ruby with a complex and evolving nose of dark cherry, violet, dried plum, graphite mineral, iron, tobacco and the distinctive volcanic mineral character of high-altitude Valle de Uco Malbec. Full-bodied with polished, well-integrated tannins, excellent natural acidity and a long, mineral, savoury finish of genuine individual character. Drink now through 2030. |
