Poderi Aldo Conterno is one of Barolo's most iconic family estates, founded in 1969 by the legendary Aldo Conterno following his departure from the family business, Giacomo Conterno. Situated in the celebrated Bussia cru in Monforte d'Alba, the estate is now managed by Aldo's sons—Franco, Stefano and Giacomo Conterno—who continue the family's philosophy of meticulous viticulture and traditional winemaking.

Although renowned for world-class Barolo, the estate also produces one of Piedmont's finest Chardonnays. Bussiador was first released in 1985, inspired by Aldo Conterno's admiration for the great white Burgundies. The wine is sourced from select hillside vineyards within the Bussia cru, where limestone-rich marl soils and cool nighttime temperatures preserve freshness and minerality. Fermentation and ageing in French oak barriques are carefully managed to complement, rather than dominate, the fruit, resulting in a Chardonnay that combines Burgundian elegance with Langhe character.

Made from 100% Chardonnay, the 2018 Bussiador undergoes fermentation and maturation in French oak barriques, with regular lees stirring to enhance texture and complexity.

The 2018 vintage is rich yet remarkably balanced. The nose offers aromas of white peach, ripe pear, lemon curd and pineapple, layered with notes of vanilla, toasted hazelnut, praline and subtle mineral nuances. The palate is full-bodied and creamy without excessive weight, supported by vibrant acidity and precise mineral tension. Ripe orchard fruit, citrus and gentle oak spice lead to a long, elegant finish. Despite its richness, the wine retains freshness and finesse, making it one of Italy's benchmark barrel-fermented Chardonnays.
