La Croix de Brully is a small, quality-focused Burgundy producer based in Chassagne-Montrachet, one of the most prestigious white wine villages in the Côte de Beaune. The domaine specialises in expressing the character of Chassagne’s limestone and clay-limestone terroirs through Chardonnay, with a focus on old-vine parcels that naturally provide greater concentration and complexity. The estate’s vineyards include parcels such as La Goujonne and other carefully selected lieux-dits around Chassagne-Montrachet, producing wines that reflect the village’s traditional style of rich yet mineral-driven white Burgundy. The term “Vieilles Vignes” (old vines) indicates that the wine is sourced from mature Chardonnay vines with deeper root systems, allowing better access to mineral layers and producing lower yields with greater flavour intensity. In Chassagne-Montrachet, old vines are particularly valued because they help balance the natural richness of the appellation with freshness, structure and a stronger sense of place. The 2022 vintage benefited from a warm, dry growing season across Burgundy, producing wines with ripe fruit character while retaining good acidity and precision. The 2022 La Croix de Brully Chassagne-Montrachet Vieilles Vignes is made from 100% Chardonnay and represents the classic white Burgundy style associated with the Côte de Beaune. The wine displays the hallmark Chassagne-Montrachet profile: generous fruit combined with freshness and minerality. Aromas reveal white peach, ripe pear, lemon zest, citrus blossom and subtle tropical fruit, complemented by notes of almond, brioche, vanilla and gentle toast from oak ageing. On the palate, it offers a rounded texture with balanced acidity, chalky minerality and a persistent finish. The old vines contribute additional depth, giving the wine more concentration and complexity than a typical regional Chardonnay. The 2022 vintage style is characterised by ripe fruit, excellent texture and a balance between richness and freshness. Warm conditions helped create a fuller, more generous expression, while Chassagne-Montrachet’s limestone influence provides the tension and mineral backbone needed for ageing.
